Whiskey Holiday Highlights: Handpicked favorites from the Del Bac Team
The holidays are here, and with the end of the year fast approaching we wanted to share some of our personal whiskey favorites, straight from the Whiskey Del Bac team!
From our Head Distiller, Mark A. Vierthaler
Favorite Whiskey Del Bac: Normandie.
Best glassware: Two fingers, in a rocks glass with one large crystal clear cube cube.
Favorite Partner: Yellowbrick Coffee, Tucson. Their annual Holiday Cheer barrel-aged Huehuetenango, Guatemala bean is boozy, heady and perfect for cool nights.
Best place to enjoy a drink: Any place good friends and loved ones have gathered near.
Favorite item in the retail store: High Camp Firelight Flasks – Take only photos and leave only footprints means a lot. Don’t haul your glass out onto the trails!
Favorite Whiskey Del Bac: My favorite whiskey of our Sonoran Trio is the Dorado. The smoke is subtle and sweet. Like a toasted marshmallow roasted over a campfire. It evokes memories of camping in the forest.
Best place to enjoy a drink: Batch and Snake and Barrel in downtown Tucson is by far the best place to enjoy not just Whiskey Del Bac but they have over 1200 whiskeys to sip on.
Favorite whiskey cocktail: My all time favorite Whiskey Del Bac cocktail is an Old Fashioned with Dorado. But, the cocktail I will be serving family and friends this season is a Peach Boulevardier using Sentinel.
Favorite Whiskey Del Bac: Dorado! Best glassware: A heavy, double old fashioned glass Favorite item in the retail store: I’m obsessed with Bull in China’s Hammered Copper Bell Jigger.
Best place to enjoy a drink: My backyard at sunset in front of the firepit.
Favorite Del Bac partner: I spend an awful lot of dinners at Hush Public House in Scottsdale. Ask Mikey or Sam of a Del Bac Dorado old-fashioned!
Best whiskey cocktail: Dorado Old-Fashioned made with angostura bitters, homemade demerara syrup, and a cara-cara orange peel. Stirred and strained over a big cube.
