Sentinel 84 – How to make the perfect All-American whiskey cocktail for the 4th of July.
It is summer time. It is hot. Your first instinct might be to grab a beer, but could you do something even more refreshing and at the same time even more American?
Often whiskey is associated with the colder months to warm you up, but with the right recipe, whiskey can be just as refreshing as a nice cold beer. Best of all, you can grab a bottle of Sentinel Rye (American made right here in AZ) and use our recipe to knock the socks off your guests while watching a dazzling fireworks show.
So why is is called the Sentinel 84?
Tucson is home to the iconic mountain, Sentinel Peak. Early inhabitants grew crops near its base. In 1916, University of Arizona students finished the giant A on the side of the mountain overlooking the city. Then plans would have put a hotel accessible by tram on it until it was deemed a public park owned by Tucson in the late 1920s. Then it took almost 60 years for the fine citizens of Tucson to start shooting explosives off it for the 4th of July in 1984.
So in honor of the spectacular fireworks show that is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, we have created this cocktail to help you all celebrate our independence!
